Hi Joan!
Love your work and your profile pic in front of the Chicago skyline 🙂
I found your blog mentioned in Rena Klingbergs newsletter. I just signed up to receive your blog posts! I’m writing because I too love etching brass and copper.I have a quick question for you. I noticed you like to embellish your cuffs too. I’m experimenting with filigree and crystals. Do you use epoxy glue to adhere your embellishments? Or do you solder or attach with screws? I’ve seen all these methods but was curious which you like. I’m a little worried about the epoxy withstanding the test of time. Would love your input!
Hi Pam-
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for following my posts! It always amazes me that anyone even reads my ramblings 🙂
I’ve been trying for a long time to find an adhesive that works all the time and with all materials, but I’m not sure it exists. I haven’t tackled soldering yet so when I can, I like to use rivets. I rely on E-6000 for the more lightweight gluing (just be sure to let it set for 24 hours). It’s a bit more of a challenge to use, but ICE resin also works very well and appears to be waterproof too. I tested it on some rings I made with antique buttons and so far it’s held up well – even when I forgot to take my ring off to wash dishes. Hope this helps!
I have a large collection of rubber stamps, and I use those along with a little freehand drawing. And yes, I do use Staz On ink (black). For drawing or for touching up I use a Sharpie type pen.

This is so intriguing. Where do you get you patterns? Do you stamp the pattern using staz on?
