My husband and I took a few minutes this evening to walk by a nearby lake and enjoy the sunset. As we were headed back to the car, a trio of snow white ducks got out of the water and walked over to where I was standing. I assumed they were looking for a food handout and that they’d start squawking at me when they realized I didn’t have anything for them.
When they got to me though, they stopped.
And they just stood there, calmly regarding me with their dark eyes and cheerful orange feet. This went on for several moments, with me snapping picture after picture and with them just silently watching.
Then, they turned to each other and had a lengthy conversation amongst themselves while I stood there and laughed at how cute they were.
Finally, as quietly as they came, they turned in unison and headed back to the lake while I walked back to my husband feeling utterly charmed by my encounter with the welcoming committee of Rockaway Beach!
Now only do I want you to give jewelry lessons but also teach me to do a better job using my camera. Still hoping
LOL, Barbara – I take pictures the same way I create jewelry, just trial and error – sometimes lots of error!
I love when you share your animal encounter stories and photos with us! Of course I also like reading about your beautiful jewelry, but your animal encounters just tickle me.
Thanks, Diane – it just tickled me how cute they were!
Oh my goodness how fabulous! That must have been such fun! I love it. Thanks for sharing the stories and the pictures.
When they turned to each other and started “talking” it was hilarious!
Joan that is the greatest welcoming committee ever. Because we have been friends forever, I believe, gonna get deep, that Roy, Opal and Grace needed to tell you how proud they were of you and that everything is going to be alright. Beautiful pictures dear.
Maybe so, Landra – I hadn’t thought of it that way!
So love this story and pictures Joan~~definitely brightened my day 🙂 Take care….
Thanks, Ellen!
How could one not be cheered by the arrival of this troop of darlings 😉
They were awfully cute – I’ll have to go visit them again one of these days…
